Overview
Promise is thrilled with the increase in the number of students claiming their Promise. Not yet counting the Class of 2013, Promise has 220 students enrolled in 17 Connecticut colleges and universities and more are on their way. Below is a quick overview of exciting new data comparing 2012 to 2013 applicants. Over the last year, Promise has seen:
- An overall 38% increase in applicants from 352 in 2012 to 486 in 2013.
- A 44% increase among African American students from 189 to 272.
- A 21% increase among Hispanic students from 106 to 128.
- A 36% increase in white students from 36 to 49.
- A 66% increase in males, from 116 to 193 between 2012 and 2013.
- A 24% increase in females, from 236 to 293.
- An 84% increase in African American males from 62 to 114.
- A 39% increase in Hispanic males from 33 to 46.
- A 12% increase in Hispanic females from 73 to 82.
